Our Change Makers Breakfast was held at Alexandra Headlands Surf Lifesaving Club on Wednesday the 8th June 2023. We celebrated the change makers in our community who don’t take no for an answer!
The morning featured insights into a number of different industries and how these ‘change makers’ took strides to evolve industries to make them more friendly for our environment.
We heard from:
Christine Garsden, Environmental Program Manager at Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service
Brett Mills, Dealer Principal of Ken Mills Toyota
Ellie Degraeve, Founder of Go For Zero.

From the Health Service, Christine Garsden holds a Master of Nursing and coordinated the hospital’s Environmental Sustainability Program. Christine has worked hard to make progress towards the service becoming more sustainable, winning gold for Climate Leadership at the 2021 Health Care Climate Champions awards. A cause Christine is passionate about, her endeavours have not come without challenges and changes.
As Dealer Principal of Ken Mills Toyota, Brett Mills is working to make the automotive industry greener. This includes things like increasing their offering of hybrid cares and working towards decreasing the carbon emissions produced by everyday vehicles.
Founder of Go For Zero, Ellie Degraeve began her toxin-free, sustainability journey when her daughter began developing rashes using ‘mainstream’ skincare. This progressed into the development of a store and website which specialises in the production and sales of low waste, toxin-free hygiene and household products.
