What is anaerobic digestion?

Anaerobic digestion or AD is the process of using bacteria to break down organic waste (in the absence of light and oxygen) to create nutrient rich fertiliser and biogas. This is used as fuel to create renewable energy and heat, plus reduces landfill and carbon emissions.

In one case study; WILLEN BIOGAS facility wasn’t producing the yield or profits they expected. After emptying the digestion tanks, they discovered plastic waste and grit was reducing the capacity of the tanks and so with a complete overhaul of the operating process and retraining of staff, ONM Energy ensured the facility was operating at healthy levels to produce their anticipated yield.
